    Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

For people living with orthopaedic conditions or those having undergone orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation plays a vital role in recovery.

Royal Rehab Private Hospital offers programs focussed on personalised treatments that address the individual goals of each patient.

Our multidisciplinary team of health professionals under the direction of a rehabilitation specialist will work with you to first assess your abilities and goals, and then develop an individualised plan.
Typically, our orthopaedic rehabilitation programs aim to:
    • increase joint movement and flexibility
    • improve walking
    • increase overall body strength
    • improve balance
    • develop fitness and endurance

Maximising your functional independence is also a priority in areas such as self-care, home activities, carer’s needs and returning to work.

Our nurses are an integral part of the team, and are skilled in all aspects of rehabilitation medicine, including assisting with pain management to help you in your transition back home.

The program includes both gym-based exercise programs and hydrotherapy classes as medically appropriate.

Deconditioning, including weakness and loss of confidence, can occur as a result of long-term illness, advancement of disease, surgery or a lengthy hospital stay.

Our reconditioning programs are designed to help rebuild strength, mobility, independence, resilience and wellbeing following a general decline in function. Our therapists will create an individually–tailored program to improve your overall health and maximise your physical abilities. They are compassionate and sensitive to your needs and will help you set realistic goals and optimise any possible functional improvements to your health.

Depending on your needs, our full team of allied health professionals may be involved in developing a program for you. They will meet regularly with you to assess your progress and review your goals and encourage you to be an active participant in planning and achieving your goals.
