NDIS Support Coordination: What You Need To Know

NDIS Support Coordination

Royal Rehab provides support services for people with disabilities across Sydney. We are a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) registered provider, which means you or your loved one can access our programs and accommodation through NDIS funding, referrals, and other assistance and supports. Gaining the most out of your NDIS plan is important and we can assist you through the process so that you can have more choice, control, and certainty when it comes to how, when and where your supports are assigned and arranged.

NDIS coordination is highly beneficial when it comes to identifying what you or your loved one requires to lead a full life and reach goals in a variety of areas, such as community involvement, employment, and independence. Royal Rehab’s NDIS coordinators are here to assist you.

What is NDIS support?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme can help you gain access to and fund our disability support services, such as supported independent living and in-home drop-in support. These services can help to improve safety throughout each day, expand learning opportunities, increase social and community interaction, and provide suitable disability accommodation.

The NDIS categories of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) provide access to these services. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) set prices that are published in the NDIS Support Catalogue, which Royal Rehab uses when charging for NDIS related services. All fees and charges will be detailed within your Service Agreement. For suitable access and support, it is important to apply for the correct NDIS funding.

Breaking down the meaning behind NDIS can help to understand what it covers:

National: The scheme is expanding its reach progressively across all states and territories in Australia.

Disability: People who can access the NDIS are those with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability, as well as those requiring early intervention for development delay.

Insurance: Everyone deserves support when living with a permanent and significant disability, and the NDIS allows for this.

Scheme: The NDIS is there for people who need support improving their skills and independence. It is not a welfare system.

Who is eligible for NDIS support?

To ensure fair and suitable assistance, there are certain requirements that must be met to access the NDIS. You can use the scheme if you:

Are an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen who holds a Protected Special Category Visa.

  • Live with a permanent and significant disability that affects your everyday activities.
  • Are under the age of 65 when first accessing the scheme.
  • Reside in an area where the NDIS is available.

How can an NDIS coordinator help you?

Making the most of your NDIS plan can be complicated. Our friendly and experienced team will help you apply for the correct funding while supporting you through the process. Our coordinators work with individuals and their families to increase access to services, community networks, and information to improve quality of life. We develop, implement, monitor and review personalised plans, and help to build disability awareness and improve opportunities by engaging with local organisations and communities.

Our coordinators can connect you with a range of service providers and arrange service agreements, obtain quotes, and negotiate costs. We can determine whether services are being delivered as agreed and assist in resolving issues. Royal Rehab can provide support when you liaise with other government departments and create reports for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) regarding outcomes prior to annual reviews. We will also assist you when changes in your circumstances occur, and help you better understand your NDIS plan so that you can manage it independently when desired.
